History
Search what your agents said and did in your repos, and every answer you gave them, from one page.
Open History at the top of the side menu, right under Since you left. On the phone it is the History tab. Type a few words and press Enter, or stop typing for a moment. Pick a repo in the filter, or leave it on All repos. The filter follows your repos: one you add or close shows up or leaves it without leaving the page.
With two or more Claude accounts, History searches the sessions of every account, and an Account filter next to the repo filter narrows the results to one account. It starts on All accounts.
Each result shows what kind of entry it is, the words around the match, the repo, the task and when it happened. Click a result to read the five entries before and after it. While that agent is still listed in the side menu, Open agent opens its page. Click the result again to close it.
What is searched
Every Claude Code session that ran in one of your repos or in one of its task folders. Other folders on the PC are not searched. Each session gives four kinds of entries:
| Kind | What it holds | Example |
|---|---|---|
| You | What you typed to the agent. | yes, go ahead and drop it |
| Agent | The agent's replies. | Dropping Redis: the cache hit rate was under 5 %… |
| Approval | Each tool the agent used or tried to use, and whether it was allowed. | Allowed · Bash · npm uninstall redis, Refused · Edit · src/cache.ts |
| Question | Each question the agent asked with options, and the option you picked. | Keep Redis for sessions? → No, drop it |
A tool shows Refused when you said no to it, at Claude Code's own prompt or on the PC or phone card in ratchet. A question nobody answered ends in → no answer. What a tool printed, such as file contents or command output, is not searched.
How matching works
- Case does not matter, and a word also matches inside a longer word:
dropfinds "Dropping". - Common words such as the, why, did, we and how are skipped, unless the search has nothing else.
why did we drop Redis?finds the same asdrop Redis. - An entry matches when it has at least one of your words. Entries with more of your words come first, then the newest.
- You see at most 100 results. With more, the page says Showing the best 100. Add words to narrow it down.
The first results show within a couple of seconds, and the page counts the sessions as it goes. ratchet stays usable while it searches. A new search, a new repo filter or leaving the page stops the old one.
How far back
As far back as Claude Code keeps its session files. That is 30 days, unless you changed Claude Code's cleanupPeriodDays setting.
Nothing is stored or sent
History reads Claude Code's session files on your PC. It writes nothing and keeps no copy. Results go only to the screen that searched: this PC, a paired phone or a browser you approved, the same way transcripts do. Your search words are not logged or counted.
